| Jacco Zijl legde zowel het Nederlandse als het Amerikaanse artsexamen met succes af. Hij werd opgeleid tot Orthopaedisch Chirurg in het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht, het Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis te Amsterdam en het Medisch Centrum Alkmaar. Sinds januari 2003 is hij lid van de maatschap Orthopaedie van het St. Antonius Ziekenhuis te Nieuwegein en Utrecht. Jacco Zijl heeft zich binnen de Orthopedische Chirurgie volledig gespecialiseerd in de Sporttraumatologie/ sportgerelateerde aandoeningen. Met name bandreconstructies in en om de knie. Orthopedisch chirurg Jacco Zijl voert naast meer dan 150 voorste kruisband reconstructies per jaar, ook vele multi-ligamentaire reconstructies in de knie uit. Met name voor deze ingrepen en achterste kruisbandreconstructies, worden patienten uit andere ziekenhuizen naar Jacco verwezen. Jacco Zijl is voorzitter van de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Arthroscopie (NVA). Hij functioneert onder andere als consulent voor FC. Utrecht, afdeling Topsportgeneeskunde UMC Utrecht, Koninklijke Nederlandse Tennisbond, Koninklijke Nederlandse Baseball en Softball Bond, Koninklijke Nederlandse Handbalbond en de Nederlandse Ski Vereniging. Verder werkt hij samen met diverse regionale sportverenigingen. Sinds 2010 bestaat de st. Antonius Sportsclinic. Hier zijn op de locatie Utrecht sportartsen, fysiotherapeuten en orthopedisch chirurgen werkzaam en kunnen zij vanuit de verschillende disciplines samen optimale zorg voor de sporter leveren. Jacco Zijl geeft als orthopedisch chirurg al jaren onderwijs aan collega orthopedisch chirurgen en fysiotherapeuten zowel nationaal als internationaal. Zo is hij o.a. faculty member voor de gevorderde knie cursussen vanuit de NVA en docent voor de cursus state of art knierevalidatie van het Nederlands Paramedisch instituut. | Jacco Zijl successfully completed both the Dutch and American medical exams. He was trained as an Orthopedic Surgeon at the University Medical Center Utrecht, the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis in Amsterdam and the Medical Center Alkmaar. Since January 2003 he has been a member of the Orthopedic Society of St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein and Utrecht. Within Orthopedic Surgery, Jacco Zijl has fully specialized in Sports Traumatology/sports-related disorders. In particular ligament reconstructions in and around the knee. In addition to more than 150 anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions per year, orthopedic surgeon Jacco Zijl also performs many multi-ligamentary reconstructions in the knee. Patients from other hospitals are referred to Jacco, especially for these procedures and posterior cruciate ligament reconstructions.
